Good Morning Shoppers!
As I drove home on Monday a thought popped into my head. It was:
“That which fills us, empties us”
How true is that for you? Sometimes the things that we enjoy the most also drain us the most! My body must have really liked that thought too because I began to fall ill Monday night! I think I had a bought with food poisoning! Lunch filled me, then emptied me! I cannot remember being so sick thus far in my adult life! Yesterday I thought I was going to collapse!
Other things make that thought true though – Scrapbooking for example. It’s a hobby that brings me enjoyment, yet sometimes it empties me as well. Whether it’s my time or my wallet!
So, sometimes I think, at least for me, that things that fill me also empty me! How true is this for you?

I think it's pretty true because you have often have to reprioritize your comings/goings to keep filling up which means cleaning (emptying) out the excess. You can get so overfilled with "junk" that the real filling has no room and in reality you are empty
whoa I'm not sure if I even follow what just wrote LOL

I think what fills me is work. I enjoy my work, but boy does it stress me out. I enjoy being busy at work but at my busiest times, I have little room or energy for much else.
My work mentally fills me and I think about it all night, as much as I try not to, I do. So that happens and I am stressed and then can't concentrate on things in my personal life.
I get a sense of accomplishment with my work and I enjoy it and I enjoy the place I am in my career, so that fills me. But also empties me in different ways I don't think of. For example, my ex DH just told me this past October that he didn't feel like my equal because I am more accomplished in my career then he is. So, I guess that had to do partly with reasons why things happened the way they did with us, so now that I think of it, that could have indirectly emptied me as well.
Phew, that was a mouth full......

Very deep Liz! HA Just Kidding.
Anything I enjoy doing, I tend to go overboard at some point. I have to rein myself in and tell myself that I am doing it because I enjoy it and it shouldn't be stressful. KWIM?

I getcha Liz, I getcha! Everything that fills us in one way or another always seems to empty us in other ways! We are constantly struggling to empty what is filled to make room for other things. Which in all likelyhood become full too!
Sometimes Love can completely fill you but when love hurts it empties you. (my) Children fill me yet they empty me too! (mostly physically!).
The thing is, I wonder why we let ourselves get so full in the first place? Why do we let the things that fill us empty us at the same time?
Is that like debating the sky is blue? Some would argue that we only SEE it as blue and that it's not REALLY blue! Hmm....
Work used to make me feel overwhelmed but I can say for the first time in years that I'm at a job that I love, that I can leave at home and that does not empty me! Then again, I've had my fair share of work that filled and emptied me!
Hugs,

Ruby -- I think it's time for a cruise....I sooooo want to do one again, it's just time and money Yes, it is time for a vacation, although I just had one in December but it wasn't a very good one......it was supposed to be fabulous but it wasn't. Finding time is the hardest thing to do when it comes to vacations and work.
