Ok, here is today's thought of the day...something to think about and sleep on.... [glow=red,2,300][/glow] What is the one song that reminds you of childhood? What is it about that song? For me, it's Our House by CSNY (Crosby Stills Nash and Young.). My parents, when we lived in Canada, would take us up to the mountains every weekend and make us camp and ski and hike (bad parents LOL) and we'd complain. My parents LOVED music, so we were always listening in the house, the van, etc. Well, Queen was big, CSNY, Gordon Lightfoot, even Willie, - anything 70's but the one song that always got us kids singing and behaving was Our House. The line - "with 2 cats in the yard, life used to be so hard"....that was us! We had two cats and us kids thought it was about us! And the chorus - was so catchy, esp. the la, la's. To this day, I hear it, belt it out, sing, cry and smile at the same time. It is the mascot - the motto of my childhood. Funny thing - I babysat my friends 2 kids for 3 years - 12 hours a day. I taught them to love music and that was one song those kids could belt out LOL! They loved my cats and like me as a kid, gotta kick out of that line. How about you?

Good question!
I don't think I have a specific song but I remember songs that remind me of my Dad. I got my love of music from him. He was always listening to music as he worked and relaxed. My Mom was never really into music. I remember having a red jukebox in our bedroom and we had records we would play on it. It was the coolest thing ever, lol. We never had a TV in our bedroom, but we always had some kind of stereo equipment in there. I have no idea why we never got a TV for our bedroom, but I remember getting a stereo for Xmas, it was a combined gift for me and my sister. (as a matter of fact, I didn't have a tv in my bedroom until about 6 years ago or so)
This is silly but what reminds me of my Dad is two songs by Freddy Fender: "Before the Last Teardrop Falls" and "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights" -- silly I know but that is what reminds me of my Dad.
As for my childhood, it would have to be anything from the 80s, grew up on that stuff and I still love it.

Gosh, I'd have to say when I hear eagles songs or Don Henley it takes me back to my childhood. Yeah, I'm only 28 but that's what my folks listened to...so for me it takes me back!

I just heard Glenn Miller on my way to work today - Chattanooga Choo-Choo and String of Pearls. That reminds me of my granda and my friend's mom :-(

Morbid Alert - Does anyone else get weepy when you hear "Amazing Grace". I swear I've heard it at almost every funeral that I've ever been to so when I hear it and I'm not at a funeral I get all weepy. Sucks huh?
