When you alter, do you use Mod Podge, as a glue? I saw altered cd's and want to give them a try and maybe make something for my mom and MIL.

It depends on what you are using it for. For metal I use Tombo Metal glue this was suggested by Mrs Heidi Swapp herself and it works great. I also use just the regular Tombo as well for chipboard.
You can actually get these glues at Joanns so if you have a coupon it will only cost a couple $$
Mod podge I hear is good too, but Ive never used it. I think its better for bigger projects like altering lunch tins and such
Good Luck

Today, I went out and bought mod podge. I started to alter a Cd. I thought I would make a little something for the moms of the kids I watch. The first one I started, the mod podge didn't seem to want to hold to the paper and CD. Well I went and started another one, that one seems to be working out.
Now on photos, I seen some places on line where people mod podge right over the photo. Should I do that. Will that hurt the photo at all?

well, you can alter a CD with lots of things actually- gel medium is an alternative, as is modge podge... or paint or whatever! Gel medium and modge podge are favorites for coating decoupage and collage pieces, generally. I taught a class once last year where we made wind chimes out of cds. we put some holes in the bottoms, hung 5 strings with windchime pieces, and sprapainted and stamped the heck out of the cd's - it was fun! You can use modge podge or gel medium on your photos if you like, either will act as a sealant and a glue. I am not sure if these are necesarily acid free - however, I'm not sure the CD itself will be forever either, as most CD's are believed to degrade enough not to protect information after a time of only 10 years. Your best bet is a digital reprint of the photo you want to use, rather than an original. Remember too that by sealing the photo with modgepodge or gel medium, you are are going to lock out certain things, but lock in certain others. So if you have original prints from a 1 hour place and they werent perfectly washed and rinsed, you could essentially be sealing in some bad stuff too. hope all this helps... m
