Ok, so many of us here want to lose weight. I have a new support buddy - we're going to help each other reach our goals. When I was getting married, I joined a weight loss challenge ran by a girl who had gotten married and still challenged us out of the kindess of her heart. It was a neat program.
There were weekly challenges for the individual.
There were weekend challenges for the indvidual.
These challenges were worth points.
Now, there was also a support system built in - a buddy system.
She'd match us up with a buddy if we didn't have one or if we decided to mix things up even, we'd get random buddies. In additon to our individual challenges, we had buddy challenges. These included sending your buddy support emails and e cards, splitting the buddy challenges between the two of you (working together as a team), making workout plans for one another based on interests and even sending each other recipes and meal plans. These were worth points.
At the end of the month, she'd announce the person with the most points. One month, the winner got a gift certificate for a book.
The challenges themselves were fun. They could fit with any diet plan, any goal...some were diet related, some exercise related, some home related and some were fun. For example:
For the weekly buddy challenge one week, Each buddy must complete the following:
1. 15 minutes of cleaning M-F- 10 points
2. try a recipe your buddy picks for you by Friday. let your buddy know about time limits
and meat preferences:) 10 points
3. 10 minutes of stretching 3x this week 10 points To get the points, each buddy had to complete it.
The individual challenge that week?
Mon.- Eat a piece of fruit with lunch and dinner.
Tues.- Get at least 8 hours of sleep tonight.
Wed.- weigh in day. You must limit your sodium intake to 2200 mg.
Thurs.- Time to work those arms today. Complete at least a 30 minute arm workout.
Fri.- Limit caffeine to only 1 beverage today. Also, try a new dinner recipe tonight and post it here:)
The weekend challenge?
Weekend Challenge :
1. Make sure your laundry basket and kitchen sink are both empty by sunday evening. (20 points)
2. No empty calories in beverages this weekend. This means no starbucks, sugar loaded smoothies, alcohol, etc. You also must drink at least 64 oz of water on both days. (10 points)
3. Get some "me time" in this weekend such as a bubble bath, reading, shopping, etc. (10 points)
Buddy challenge-
Between you and your buddy, you must have 200 minutes of exercise, its your choice what kind. you can split it up to 100 minutes each if you want. ( 10 points)
Between the two of you walk 40,000 steps this weekend, or if theres 3 of you- 60,000. (10 points)
So, it was always mixed up - something different, fun stuff - stuff that was do-able!
I saved it all - I did well on this! I like challenges.
Now, where am I going with this?
Would y'all be interested in a little challenge? We could do individuals or even buddies. I can modify these to fit diet plans - for example - my buddy is on a certain plan - I'd accomodate them to fit her.
Lastly - YOU DON'T HAVE TO NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT TO JOIN! This is about living a healthy lifestyle...IF YOU ARE AT YOUR TARGET WEIGHT - YOU'D BE WELCOME TOO!!
What do ya think? ANyone interested?
