I want a wishblade...bad...so I didn't want to get a cricut too. But, my Wizard just isn't "cutting" it for me. There is so much FUSS that goes along with making the sandwhiches, etc...I just find it to be a huge pain in my buttets.
So, tonight, I used a 40% off coupon at AC Moore and picked up the Cuttlebug die cut machine for $56!!
I LOVE THE CUTTLEBUG!
The "sandwhich" directions are EASY because the plates are labeled and the directions come with a sketch that SHOWS you how to do it; unlike the Wizard!
The true test came when I cut my wizard dies. Not only was it MUCH easier to cut (no "uncontrolled exits") but there was NO pressure or forcing the plates in!
No doubt that Wizard was ahead of it's time with the invention of embossing, however major competitors have really taken that process and refined it. I CANNOT believe that I paid what...$249 for my Wizard just over a year ago!
Oh, and within SECONDS I was able to layer my rubber mat and thin white spacer plate (yes, from my wizard) to get the machine to emboss the Wizard die.
I think that given the steep price tag of the Wizard dies that I'll no longer be a consumer of the product. There are just too many others out there, at a much better price.
My Wizard will be on ebay someday!
Bottom line; if you are looking for a GREAT inexpensive die cut machine you CANNOT go wrong with a less than $60 investment (if you get it on sale). The font sets are about 80, but less w/ coupon. It works with the Wizard die as well as "original" steel ruled sizzix dies!
This machine will make you happy if you are tired of all the cussing and nail biting you do with your Wizard.
LOVE IT and it's a GREAT get-me-through product until I buy my Wishblade!
OH, one last thing. The bottom has anti-slipe, the sides fold up and it has a carrying handle. I cannot say enough good things about this!
WORTH THE MONEY!

My SIL bought the Cuttlebug when I was at my parent's so I got to see it and use it. It is fun. Somewhat like the original Sizzix but cuter!!! It's on sale at JoAnn's right now for $49.99 (sorry, April!) so I've been thinking about adding it to my already overstocked stash of die cutting systems. I do love that the alphabets are so cheap and you can use coupons to buy them. I still use my Sizzix more than my Wizard so I've kept it. I doubt I'll ever let my Sizzix go but I could see myself parting with my Wizard someday.

Maybe we should all invest in the cuttlebug and put or wizard's on ebay!!!! I don't use my Wiz as much as I thought I would, then again, I recently got a cricut, so since I'm lazy, I like something that will cut it all for me!

I got one for Christmas and I love it! It's compact and easy to use and the dies are not overly expensive.

So you guys are saying we can use even the large Sizzix die on the cuttlebug?
I got a Wizard a few months ago on sale for about $75, and never used it once!
If the cuttlebug can use the sizzix dies, then I am all for it.

YEAH BABY! I am cleaing my scraptable right now to make room to play! I LOVE THIS THING! I think as long as you have some of the plates from the wizard then you can do almost anything. Just like with the wizard...if you can build a sandwhich that is the right height it'll work. I can't believe how easy it is! Seriously!!! So you guys are saying we can use even the large Sizzix die on the cuttlebug? I got a Wizard a few months ago on sale for about $75, and never used it once! You can go the opposite too, use the Cuttlebug dies on the Sizzix, right? I bought a few and haven't opened them yet, but I was hoping to use them on my sizzix. I have the adapter plate for thin dies - I'm hoping it works. They do have some cute ones!
I just can't imagine having to make sandwiches LOL! Too much work - but I do LOVE my sizzix and my cricut, and even my xyron pcs sometimes. Actually i LOVE the xyron books, but I don't care for the machine itself.
SIGH, so many toys, so little time!

Sarah, you are supposed to be able to use the Cuttlebug dies on the Sissix.

OK, so I was bad today!! I went to Joann's and got a Cuttlebug! April, you were soooooo right, I love it already. I embossed on a piece of paper and it looks great!! It is soooooo easy to use. I was looking online last night and several people say there is a cracking noise while you use it, but mine is so smooth. At first I was doubtful that it was actually working, but it looks great!! I can't wait to play with it some more. I have the Wizard and have never used it. I just used it when I was trying it out and that was it. Now it is collecting dust with countless other items. I LOVE the Cuttlebug so far........and I got it for $49.99 at Joann's.

Sarah, I hated making the "sandwhich" on the wizard. It was like you were always fighting it to go "in"...forcing, holding the plates so they didn't pop out and then making sure that the plates didn't perform an "uncontrolled exit". .. .. . . with the Cuttlebug it's more of "layering" the plates. The plates are lableled A, B & C and it comes with a little user guide that has 3-4 different "layers". Since there aren't 100 different combinations or thought involved it seems much easier. For example a Wizard has 2 white plates. You have the small spacer plate and then you have your white "board" plates. Well, to me that gets confusing. At times I'm like WHICH WHITE PLATE? Whereas this is A, B & C. The wizard may be a little more user friendly if the "suggested" manual wasn't umpteen pages long. I personally don't want to spend the time to fuss with it, ya know? Maybe the Wizard makers should manufacturer their plates in different colors to avoid confusion! Whatever though. I liked the Wizard concept a lot, just think I'm happier all around w/ my CB. (cuttlebug). Next on my list is a Pazzles or Wishblade!

Well I bought the Wizard and tried it exactly once and wasn't happy. I put it all in the box with the now "labeled" plates and haven't touched it since. I wish I had waited for one of the electronic ones...thining maybe will get one with tax refund if have any $ left after property taxes/bill catch up etc....

darn, we could make a hell of a lot of money on ebay ladies! There are lots of stupid people who would buy the wizard! At least with my sizzix it doubles as a boat anchor!
Lastly I'd like to mention that I cannot STAND how my plates on the Wizard flake off. WTF is up with that, seriously?
Oh....look at all the views on this thread. That's right lurkers. I HATE MY WIZARD. Yeah, I said it and I'm not afraid to admit it!

LOL! I'm SOO glad I never bought one! I do like my sizzix - it's quick and easy, esp for fonts for titles. And my cricut - LOVE it too - little more work, little less work (LOL). That darn Xyron PCS can be a pain, but it has books of stuff you can't find anywhere else. Now the little bug? I'll live vicariously through you guys for now - maybe someday I'll need a new anchor and a cute little bug
