Does anyone know what does EMO stand for? I have seen it around alot. IF it is bad, PM me..

Sorry I never replied to this yesterday - had a rough, rough day!!!!
EMO is a grouping - like Goth or Jock or Burnout. There is EMO music - Dashboard Confessionals is a band that is EMO. The characteristics are being a downer - being depressed, sad.
It started, though with a music movement in the 90's: Emotive Hardcore. It's a style of music - the bands are emotional music.
This is straight from the mouths of my high school students. They said to look up EMO websites and you'll find more.

Ok, one of my students said for you to read this link -that it really describes the fashion/attitude aspect of it....I'm off to read it now too! LOL! From what they described, it sounds like my 10th graders! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emo_%28slang%29

One reason I asked, was my sister asked me. Her step son wouldn't tell her what it was all about. I know I have seen it in different places. Like when I am looking for a layout for myspace. It went right over my head, now that I think about it, it should have been easy to figure out what it meant. Thanks for the reply .

Yeah, like depressed teen, usually in dark clothing (beatles haircut)....lol, weird combo huh?

Yeah, take a look at a lot of bands in the punk scene, most of them are considered EMO..... Basically most of it is BORING music to listen to lol!!!
