I read about this while browsing the swaps site. What's the deal? Won't it chip off? I can't even get the stuff to stay on my fingernails! What's the secret? I'm also thinking of spray painting some. Had thought of that before but never managed to do it. What's a good kind of paint? Any kind? Any tips or tricks I have to remember for doing that?

Ok, we did a painted brads swap not too long ago and that's probably where you saw this, right? It's actually pretty cool! At first I was like hmmm... don't know about his one! But I had DH airbrush my brads for me and they turned out VERY cool!!! It's an easy way to get that one or 2 bright orange brads that you need for a project without having to buy the whole pack! Plus, silver or gold are generally cheaper too! I think some used nail polish, some did spray paint, and I do believe it was Stacey (maybe others) who actually heat embossed them! They turned out VERY cool!! I'm not sure what kind of paint to use, since we did the airbrush..... April had some trouble with spraypaint melting on styrofoam that she was using or something like that.... I would say if u did nail polish, probably put a really good top coat on it.

If you sand the brads first--just the top part, it helps the paint or nailpolish stick better!! (Sarah told me that secret and it really helped )

I got out some spraypaint and started playing today. I made a few brads that turned out neat. I painted a few yellow and a few pink then I took the black and from far away swiped it back and forth to make small dots. Very cool effect. Then I covered them with high gloss top coat. I also took some brads that I had alot of and sprayed some of them with the Krylon "Make it Pearl!" spray. Very cool! I want to try spraypainting some chipboard...so will probably give that a shot this weekend.
