I prefer acrylics over wood block stamps so I would do the same thing if it didn't involve doing anything like unmounting my stamps lol!!! Acrylics are just easier to see through and know where you're stamping!

I'm with you Liz. I keep thinking I need to start stamping too. It just compliments scrapbooking so well (that is how I try to talk myself into it). I am just not sure where to begin.
I think I would go for the acrylics right off the bat. They seem the easiest to use and a readily available. Can I order from you Emily? I also know nothing about the different types of inks out there, emobossing, mounted, unmounted, versamark, etc............ See, I just don't know where to even start!

Of coarse you can order from me!!! That would be awesome!! my stie is emilyl.myctmh.com you can look at stuff there and if you want, I could send you a catalogue, but all of the stuff is online. If you get CTMH stamps, I would suggest using dye inks because it cleans better. If you're embossing, you need to use pigment inks. I LOVE the CTMH inks. they are really nice. Let me know if you need anything!

Oh one more thing, if you don't have the blocks, you need to make sure you have the right size. If you find some stamps you want, let me know and I can help you pick out the right size blocks that will work with all of them, or you can even order the whole set of blocks, which comes in handy when you start stamping a lot with different sizes!!! That's what I have. I love acrylics so much that I rarely use my wood mounted stamps!

Strike me dead for saying so... LOL.. i wish Stampin Up had some acrylic designs. Those are about the only wood mounts I buy! Everything else i have is acrylic - its just so much easier and less space intensive, honestly.
And I am a scrapper/card maker type - so I use my stamps all the time. Love it. Liz, its super fun!

Hey Em~ I suggest to alot of my customers that they pick up spare blocks of the smaller size like the 1x1 - because it comes in handy to have 2-3 of those when you are working on small detail work. I think I have 6 (1x1's)that I use alot! Not that they dont need the others but if you are working on small designs you want the small blocks - so you dont rock the block in the ink! Hope that made sense!!!

Liz, its super fun! michelle Lots of people are not mounting their stampin up stamps these days. They are getting cling mount and using that instead of mounting them on wood blocks. I haven't done that yet, and probably won't unmount my already mounted stamps. I'm just to darn lazy to go to all that work! It would sure save a lot of room in my stamp closet if I did though!
